SEAVIEW HOLIDAY VILLAGE CORNWALL PAGE Updated 23rd January 2006

From Middle of Park & From Lower Car-park + Zoomed Pictures by dots @ escape September 2004, deciding
to take my Parents (both pensioners but us all
with challenged health conditions) down to
surprise and join up with friends that had
booked earlier in the year through a travel
operator to Cornwall,
obtaining a direct site number we were only able
to privately book 3 nights at Seaview
Holiday Village
in Polperro,
(close to Looe),
I was informed that they were fully booked but
was impressed with the efforts that were made to
try and make my requests come to fruition, so I
asked them to keep in mind that we would be
interested to hear if there were any
cancellations that we may slot into.
After stopping
off at Polperro
and Talland Bay
to fill in some time, we arrived still early to
the Reception and were greeted by the most
friendly and inviting Staff. Even though we were
still a couple of hours early, the efficiency
and understanding was second to none and after a
very short wait, our Chalet was prepared so that
we could just settle our selves as finally
arrived! We all agreed that this accommodation
was beyond expectations and could not believe in
the vast living area and bedrooms. It was
clearly maintained to a high standard
and although the window view was not the best
for sights, the site overall was kept as clean
outside as in, so it was a refreshing and
welcoming break.
The accommodation is supplied with
sheet/pillow/blanket sets and kitchenware only,
so you will need consumables (loo roll/washing
liquid etc) Armed with brochures supplied with
the welcome pack, we sat to digest
Cornwall’s
Invitations. Seaview Holiday Village,
overlooking the Bay, consists of
almost 140 Units
combined of Chalets and Caravans.
Most have views over the Bay and are on a hill
so as to maximise the tier to view over the top
of the next Unit where possible. I did hear that
there was facility on site for
Disabled Guests;
which was useful to know for future reference.
There was evidently extensive attention to
Guests with difficulties as I noticed many
accesses with ramps to facilities.
On site, there
are all the facilities that are needed… The
Reception is open each day and most of the day
and when it is not, assistance is available at
the Bar/Function Room
(“Schooner Bar”), and It is displayed that the
Manager
is available 24 hours per day…
This was not tested, but having seen the
friendly and inexhaustible attitude that the
Manager has, it would not surprise me that it is
accurate. The “Schooner Bar” has an excellent
Menu; which you can sit in and eat or it can be
packaged up for take-away to your accommodation. Facilities include:
Public Payphone;
Bike Hire; Games Room; TV Lounge; Children’s
Outdoor Play Area; Shop; Launderette;
Sauna/Steam Room; Exercise Room; Crazy
Golf/Table Tennis; Children’s Pets Corner;
Swimming Pool Indoor (heated Pool/Spa) and
Outdoor Pool Entertainment Set-up:
Dedicated
Entertainments Team; Children’s Club (Pirates &
Parrots); Evening entertainment 7 nights
including Quiz, Bingo, Cabaret, Disco & Fancy
Dress etc… Mixed programmes.
I cannot praise
the Manager (Stuart)
enough for his efforts and endurance for being
able to extend the 3 night stay to
9 nights.
Although we needed to move around using 4
different Units including luxury 9 berth
caravans, his juggling to slot us in so that we
could stay was appreciated. In fact I had to
make him promise that if I returned to Reception
once more, he must refuse any more nights, as I
really had to come back home to return to
work... As a joke, I did walk in and asked him
on our final morning, but he really WAS
fully booked. Also, his team cannot be forgotten
as they ALWAYS displayed courteous, happy
and professional service.
The evening
entertainment has left an everlasting imprint by
the multi-talented Resident: Dill
and his sidekick Jake
(Pirate)… They not only kept the Children
entertained but also did a very good job to
leave a smile on the Adults! Even the Resident
Female Duo
managed a surprise with a different Cabaret each
time they appeared. Lastly, it cannot be
forgotten, on equal balance, the talents of
Dave Jade…
I cannot remember seeing anyone in Cabaret with
so many talents, all finely synchronised but
with very light Adult material.
There are many
walks
that are pre laid so that if you are able, you
should easily follow the site guides that will
take you down to Talland Bay,
Polperro
or Looe.
Seaview
also provide extensive packs of brochures that
will give you endless choices to spend your time
in Cornwall
if you wish to travel out further and there are
many discounted offers in the leaflets. The magnificent view
of the Bay from the site enjoyed constant
movements in the sea by yachts, boats
and trawlers in the distance… Even the
frequent patrolling of Battleship
to-and-fro every day… always something to see…
If you have a squint in the eye, a pair of
binoculars or a good camera, you can also pick
out the lighthouse, slightly to the right, just
below the horizon in good weather. All in all, Seaview Holiday Village is an experience that no one should be deprived of!
